April Recap
April was a very busy month for the Marsy's Law for Wisconsin team! We were thrilled to take part in the statewide recognition of National Crime Victims' Rights Week with a big slate of events, including a press conference to promote the importance of equal rights for crime victims, a Survivors and Allies Lunch at the State Capitol, a Crime Victims' Rights Week Ceremony with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, and more!
To help raise awareness of this important observance, we championed a Go Purple campaign across the state, of Wisconsin, with major landmarks in Madison, Milwaukee, and Green Bay going purple for crime victims. As a special, uniquely Wisconsin observance of NCVRW, we asked businesses around the state to join us in a very special tribute to Wisconsin crime victims, decking out Bucky Badger in purple lights where the beloved Wisconsin mascot is showcased around town! We were thrilled to see fantastic support from around the state for our efforts, and excellent coverage of our efforts towards strengthening the rights of Wisconsin crime victims.
April is also Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the Marsy's Law team was busy throughout the month with lots of events and efforts to help raise awareness and support survivors. Our team enjoyed participating in a variety of important observances throughout April to help recognize and support victims, from Teal Day to Denim Day, and more! We also had the opportunity to team up with our local partners for a variety of great events, including the Survivors & Allies Day of Healing, Wrap Around the Capitol, and a Take Back the Night March in Wisconsin's Capitol!
We're hoping for another big month in May as we continue to push towards passage of second consideration of our bipartisan legislation.
Sincerely,
The Marsy's Law for Wisconsin Team
