Legal Journal “Montana Lawyer” Features Victims’ Rights

The latest edition of the Montana Lawyer, the official journal of the Montana Bar Assocition, has a feature article on victim’s rights by Robin Turner, the staff attorney for the Montana Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence.  Turner’s article, “Examination of victim rights: Ensuring safety and participation in court process,” is technical in nature, but is an excellent primer on the rights that victims of crime do have in Montana.

Turner goes further, however, to outline the importance of victims’ rights in the criminal justice system, and why they deserve more attention from attorneys.  As Turner writes, “A system’s response which anticipates the safety of the victim and allows the ability to meaningfully participate in the criminal justice process can nurture powerful results.”
