Marsy’s Law for Kentucky Bill Officially Filed in Frankfort

This has been a BIG week for us here in Kentucky! On Monday afternoon, State Senator Whitney Westerfield officially filed a Marsy’s Law for Kentucky bill in Frankfort. This puts us one step closer to ensuring that crime victims in our state are afforded the same level of rights – that is, constitutional level rights – as the accused and convicted. We are so thrilled to have such a strong legislative champion supporting our Marsy’s Law efforts! To see the full text of Senate Bill 175 – Marsy’s Law for Kentucky – click here.

We’re also gaining momentum with advocate groups across the state. We are thrilled to have the support of The Mary Byron Project, The Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs and The Center for Women and Families, to name just a few! I’ll be back on the road again next week as I continue to meet with victims, advocates and other supporters across our state and I can’t wait to share more details from those meetings over the coming weeks.

As meetings continue and support for our efforts grow, we’ll be sharing photos, updates and news stories on social media. Don’t forget to connect with us on Facebook and Twitter, and encourage your family, friends and colleagues to do the same!
