Nationally Recognized Victims’ Rights Leader Joins Marsy’s Law For Montana

Marsy’s Law for Montana welcomes the leadership of Derek Vanluchene to its statewide steering committee.

Derek is the executive director of Ryan United, a group he started in 2003.  Derek’s younger brother, 8-year-old Ryan, was abducted and murdered in 1987.  Derek, who went on to have an 18 year career in law enforcement, founded Ryan United to provide a “Justiceline” for victims and their families, working both as an ally and a liaison with law enforcement and others who work on and investigate cases of child sexual assault and abduction.

Over the years, Ryan United has evolved to provide training that focuses on child and community safety.  Having been in all 50 states talking with law enforcement, corrections, prosecutors, judges, and other child protection professionals about how important their role is in sex offender management and child abduction issues, Ryan United has become known as a leader in this field.
