Go Purple with Marsy’s Law for NV & Support Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Marsy’s Law for Nevada is urging Nevadan residents, civic leaders, and businesses to GO PURPLE in support of domestic violence victims and survivors, everywhere.

In 2021, according to statistics compiled by the Nevada Department of Public Safety, law enforcement statewide investigated 30,348 cases of Domestic and Elder Violence, in which 15,817 children were present at the scene, and 4,919 of the survivors needed medical attention. The total signals an 8.7% increase in the number of domestic and elder abuse cases in Nevada compared to 2020*.

SHINE A LIGHT & SHOW YOUR SUPPORT

To shine a light on this preventable crime we ask all Nevada businesses and residents to GO PURPLE in October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Advocacy organizations across Nevada will be hosting events and GO PURPLE efforts throughout the month. We ask you to join the effort by turning your exterior lights purple, or take team photos wearing purple and post them on social media using the hashtags below, or perhaps sign a proclamation in support of DVAM efforts and the amazing organizations helping save lives every day.

In addition, Marsy’s Law for Nevada is proud to support this month-long nationwide event once again by posting photos and videos on social media, so please let us know which day/s you plan to GO PURPLE so we can Share your support.
